Application for Evaluation and Assessment |
HOW TO APPLY An application for evaluation or an upgrade must be made using the SAIOH online application (see link on the top right hand of the page). Incomplete applications will be rejected and the application process halted until the completed form(s) are received. Please note that you are also required to upload your completed SELF-ASSESSMENT which is available on the SAIOH website.All applications and supporting documents must be received timeously as per the published assessment dates. It should be noted that the highest initial (“first entry”) registration for all new applicants is at the OH Technologist level. Applicants with sufficient qualifications and experience can apply to write the Occupational Hygienist assessment as soon as they have successfully attained the OH Technologist registration. To write the relevant assessment, as evaluated by the SAIOH PCC, a suitable period of practical experience in the field of occupational hygiene is required as well as tertiary qualifications in Occupational Hygiene or related science or engineering fields. Complete the online application in full, upon completion you will automatically be issued with a system generated invoice. Please ensure that you take particular care must be taken to fully complete the practical experience section (Cover Sheet - Click Here). This section requires that a separate page be completed for each job category/previous employer where the applicant claims experience in occupational hygiene. These pages must be signed by the appropriate supervisor or by a registered Occupational Hygienist who can validate your experience. If such verification is, for whatever reason, not possible, the applicant may make an affidavit before any Commissioner of Oaths to this effect. (Please note: Time spent on formal studies and as requirement to obtain such qualifications, cannot be claimed as experience. The PCC reserves the right to validate information provided in these forms). As soon as proof of payment of said invoice is received, your application along with your supporting documentation will be submitted for evaluation. On completion of evaluation, you will be invoiced and notified as to the level you qualify to be assessed at. This assessment invoice will need to be paid on or before the published cut-off date. Candidates will then be emailed with assessment venues, rules, etc. closer to the date. FAILURE TO ATTENDCandidates who fail to attend the arranged assessment without giving written notice within 24 hrs will forfeit their assessment fee. Such candidates will need to notify the PCC Administrator of their intention to re-sit the assessment and will subsequently be re-invoiced. Applicants may only defer, in writing, assessments for a maximum of two (2) successive assessment dates. Thereafter, they will be re-invoiced.Claims of a lack of notification to attend an assessment will not be accepted as a valid reason for non-attendance. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the PCC Administrator has your correct contact details.
RE-APPLICATION
Whether the re-application is a result of an upgrade request, a re-sit of a failed assessment or a failure to attend a previous assessment without receiving permission to defer it, a waiting period of at least six (6) months is required before a re-assessment will be considered. The applicable assessment fee will again be required, in each case. Note: Failure of the oral assessment a second time will require the candidate to re-apply and re-sit both the written and the oral assessments. The applicable assessment fee will again be required. AppealsAll communication about any application or its results and outcomes must first be directed to the SAIOH PCC Administrator (prof.registration@saioh.co.za). If a satisfactory response is not received within one month, an appeal may be directed to the Chairperson of the SAIOH PCC. The Chairperson, with the assistance of the members of the SAIOH PCC as deemed necessary. |
