Two days short course Analysis of Occupational Hygiene Exposure Data (SPUH 0122)
Date: September 10 & 11, 2018. Venue: Wits School of Public Health
Aim: The aim of the short course is to equip participants with knowledge and skills for appropriately analyzing occupational exposure data. By the end of the course the participants should be able to discuss the statistical background of exposure data analysis, list and describe the pro's and con's of various data analysis tools, analyse data using a specific data analysis too( EXPOSTAT), and understand the constitution of homogeneous or similar exposure groups.
Course content:
· Log-normal distribution of exposure data; imputation of non-detects, within- and between workers’ variances.
· Calculation of exceedance of an Occupational Exposure Limit (OEL): SA and global consensus approaches.
· Improving decision making by using prior information; historical data or exposure model estimates. Bayesian hierarchical framework and constitution of Homogeneous/ Similar Exposure Groups.
· Practicum Occupational Hygiene data analysis tools e.g EXPOSTATS, IHSTATS, BWStat.
Lecturers: Prof Jérôme Lavoué (University Montreal) and OHD staff.
