SAIOH takes pleasure in inviting you to attend and participate in its upcoming Annual Conference, which will be held at the Champagne Sports Resort in the Central Drakensberg, KwaZulu-Natal province. The Resort boasts the most spectacular views of Champagne Castle and Cathkin Peak. In keeping with the Conference theme “Raising the bar in Occupational Hygiene: Informed control reduces worker exposures”, SAIOH is in the process of developing an exciting and stimulating Conference Programme and is proud to announce that you can look forward to the following:

  1. Dr Sally Spankie – Institute of Occupational Medicine, Edinburg, Scotland – “Collecting valid data to inform REACH chemical control plans”
  2. Dr Brian Davies –  Wollongong University, Australia (retired) and recipient of the IOHA Lifetime Achievement Award - “Diesel particulate matter (DPM) control strategies and emission-based maintenance”
  3. Dennis P Driscoll – Associates in Acoustics, Inc., Colorado, USA - "Noise Control" (TBA)
  4. Adrian Sims – Vent Tech Ltd., Bristol, UK - "Testing of local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems" (TBA)
  5. Aymen Jemni – Wavecontrol Inc., Barcelona, Spain - "Controlling non-ionising radiation" (TBA)

Three pre-conference Professional Development Courses (PDCs)

  1. “Hearing Loss Prevention - What is it, what does it cost, and what does it take to succeed?” – presented by Dennis P Driscoll (USA)
  2. “Testing the performance of local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems to achieve adequate control of employee exposures” – presented by Adrian Sims (UK)
  3. "Measurement of electromagnetic fields (EMF) and control of human exposure to non-ionising radiation" – presented by Aymen Jemni (Spain)

CONFERENCE ACCOMODATION


Only a three-and-a-half hours drive from Johannesburg and 2-hours from Durban, the resort is ideally situated for both relaxing leisure weekends and for corporate conferences.

The resort offers a variety of superb, fully serviced accommodation. The 152 hotel bedrooms are made up of twin rooms, family rooms, and various suites, all with well-appointed bedrooms and either mountain views or garden views. A further 91 chalets on the estate are used for hotel accommodation subject to availability. The hotel has wheelchair access throughout and all bedrooms are linked to the main hotel buildings by way of thatch covered walkways.
