SAIOH Annual Conference 2019

 

SAIOH takes pleasure in inviting you to attend and participate in its upcoming Annual Conference, which will be held at the African Pride Mount Grace Country House & Spa, Magaliesburg, 15th to 18th October 2019.

In keeping with the Conference theme – “Occupational Hygiene and the 4th Industrial Revolution”, SAIOH invites you to submit abstracts, for consideration as either oral or poster presentations, to:

GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

(Please use the Abstract Template provided)

 

The abstracts must be submitted in English.

First names and surnames of all authors and respective affiliations must be provided.

The presenting author’s name to be in bold and italic text.

Full names and contact details must be provided – affiliation and e-mail address.

Each abstract is limited to a maximum of 300 words (please DO NOT include tables, graphs, or references; abstracts longer than 300 words will be automatically rejected).

All abstracts will be reviewed by Scientific Committee members; authors will be formally notified of the outcome. 

Authors are requested to choose one of the following sub-themes for their abstracts:

 

o   Occupational Hygiene and the 4th Industrial Revolution.

o   Technology application in occupational hygiene measurements & occupational hygiene data analytics.

o   Workplaces of the future and associated health risks.

o   Control technology.

o   Impacts of technology on the Occupational Hygiene profession.

o   Changing legal & global frameworks.

  

NB: A limited number of slots are available for oral presentations, and preference will be given to abstracts of presentations which are well aligned with the requested theme or sub-themes. 

There will also be a request for abstract submissions from invited stakeholders (e.g. sister organisations in occupational health, Department of Labour, Department of Mineral Resources) on the theme or sub-themes.

 

GUIDELINES FOR POSTER PRESENTATIONS

Size: Posters should be no larger than an A0 poster size, i.e. a maximum of 84 cm wide and 118 cm high (portrait orientation).

Mounting: Each poster will be allocated a space for mounting before or during the conference. Materials to mount posters will be provided at the poster venue. Each poster board will be marked with the author names and the poster number, as indicated in the book of abstracts.

Poster Viewing: Posters will be on display for the duration of the conference.

  

IMPORTANT DATES

 Deadline for Abstract Submission: 1 July 2019

 Notification of Abstract Acceptance: 1 August 2019

 Accepted Presenter Registration Deadline to Confirm Attendance: 8 October 2019

Presenters whose abstracts have been accepted for presentation will be allowed to attend on the day of their presentation for free, as well as receive a discount of 10% on the Early Bird Registration Fee for the other conference days.

While poster presentations will be displayed for the duration of the conference, presenters will only be afforded one day of free attendance at the conference.

 Deadline for the submission of the PowerPoint oral presentation for review and upload to the system: 8 October 2019.

 Deadline for Regular Registration for Conference and/or PDCs: 10 October 2019

 Awards for the “best conference paper” and the “best conference poster, as voted for by conference attendees, will be awarded at the end of the conference.
