SAIOH International Liaisons and MoU's

Founded in 1939, AIHA is a nonprofit organization devoted to achieving and maintaining the highest professional standards for its members. More than half of the nearly 10,000 members are certified industrial hygienists (CIHs), and many hold other professional designations. AIHA administers comprehensive education programs that keep occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) professionals current in the field of industrial hygiene. AIHA is one of the largest international associations serving OEHS professionals practicing industrial hygiene and is a resource for those in large corporations, small businesses and who work independently as consultants.

In September 2015 SAIOH and AIHA entered into a collaborative partnership with the aim of encompassing technical cooperation in a number of activity areas with the field of industrial hygiene.

BOHS is one of the biggest occupational hygiene societies in Europe, and the only professional society representing qualified occupational hygienists in the UK. The Society as a whole offers membership to anyone with an interest in a healthy work environment. The Faculty of Occupational Hygiene within BOHS develops and maintains the professional standards of occupational hygienists, and membership of the BOHS Faculty is restricted to professionally qualified hygienists.

BOHS brings together a wide range of professionals from 57 countries worldwideThere is no minimum qualification needed which explains our refreshingly diverse membership profile.  Our members aren’t just occupational hygienists; we also have, for example, occupational physicians, occupational health nurses, health and safety advisors, environmental scientists, epidemiologists, toxicologists, ergonomists, acousticians, physicists, chemists, biologists, psychologists and engineers.

In February 2016 SAIOH and BOHS entered into a collaborative partnership with the aim of encompassing technical cooperation in a number of activity areas with the field of industrial hygiene. Memorandum of Understanding.

The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 established NIOSH. NIOSH is part of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It has the mandate to assure “every man and woman in the Nation safe and healthful working conditions and to preserve our human resources.” NIOSH has more than 1,300 employees from a diverse set of fields including epidemiology, medicine, nursing, industrial hygiene, safety, psychology, chemistry, statistics, economics, and many branches of engineering. NIOSH works closely with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Mine Safety and Health Administration in the U.S. Department of Labor to protect American workers and miners. In November 2014 SAIOH and NIOSH entered into a collaborative partnership and plan to cooperate to use their collaborative efforts and expertise to advance the protection of workers and to promote best practices to improve workers safety and health. Memorandum of Understanding.
